The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation asked over 30 artists, writers, musicians and filmmakers to create a “story” about vaccines – one of the greatest advances in human history. The “Days of Tranquility” are a temporary truce called during a conflict, to allow humanitarian assistance including immunization into communities. Here, Frank Viva depicts two warring factions who have been halted by an invisible force. Creating a stark contrast, the child and nurse are happy, innocent, and oblivious to the looming conflict.
